I've seen this kind of behaviors in Bali too! Many white people think they run the world and can do whatever they please, including appropriating elements of other cultures (yoga? ikigai?), food (quinoa?), and also doing things like begpacking. This is probably the result of education that overemphasize individuality and freedom of expression over harmony.
